Mindful eating is a big part of the #whenway. A large part of being mindful is exploring the relationship between taste and smell. What we taste is influenced by smell! It affects how we interact with food, how we perceive food, and how we appreciate food. So now you’re probably thinking, ok that makes sense but what’s with the vegetarian chili? 🌶 .

Well turns out there are foods that can help exercise your sense of smell! Zinc deficiencies have been associated with loss of smell. So load up on those zinc rich foods like kidney beans, spinach, and seeds. A great opportunity for a delicious vegetarian chili! A hearty soup that you can even have for breakfast! .
Other ways to help improve smell:

Drink lots of water! Dry mouth can inhibit your sense of smell. 💧 .
.
Go for a brisk 10 minute walk before meals if you can. People have reported better sense of smell after exercising.
.
Practice! Sniff things around you and describe them! Actively use your nose and concentrate on only smelling. Research suggests sniffing essential oils for 30 seconds, twice a day, can help your sense of smell! .
